On the Recap: Monday Mumblings

He fear nobody...
A bit late on the recap section as I'm occupied with some working commitments. As a result, this gives me an opportunity to recap some of last night's Champions League games involving our fantasy players.

Sunday's game bring us to some terrible news for the Liverpudlians (is this the correct acronym for Liverpool fan?). Back to back losses and second bottom of the premiership table after losing to Evertonians 2-0. Liverpool surrendered themselves quite easily through a great goal by Tim Cahill and a nice Arteta's screamer. The latter followed Alex by going out injured after scoring that kind of goal. He seem doubtful this weekend. Great play by defender cum winger Seamus Coleman by providing the assist for Cahill's goal as well as keeping a clean sheet. Everton go to White Hart Lane and Liverpool entertain stubborn Blackburn at home in the upcoming fixtures. As expected on Saturday, the top performer on Sunday was Carlos Tevez after hauling 12 points for his brace minus one for the yellow card. Most of the managers jumped the rankings this week after captaining Tevez with the expense of Drogba. Drogba's got the easiest opponent this week than Mr. Tevez of course. Tevez's brace were scored after the introduction of David Silva by replacing the ineffective Adebayor. Silva created one and scored the match winning goal as Blackpool showed their usual spirit by scoring two goals (Marlon Harewood & Gary Taylor-Fletcher) to make the score respectable. Charlie Adam again among the bonus points and fast becoming a rare breed of 'fixture-proof' fantasy player.

The biggest news on Monday; Chris Samba was sent off. Miraculously, Blackburn defense played better with ten men against Sunderland. Away clean sheet points for Sunderland defenders (minus one for fantasy favorite   Elmohamady after receiving a yellow). The maximum bonus points go to the home team keeper, Paul Robinson after stringing some saves to repel flurries of Sunderland attempts on goal. Apart from the bloke who got sent off just now, expect both team defenders to provide fantasy points in the future. Noted that Darren Bent was surprisingly fit for this game. Sunderland welcome Villa at home and Blackburn visit the 'newly owned' Liverpool ground this weekend.

Some notes from the Champions League; Arsenal run riot at home after thrashing Shakhtar Donetsk 5-1. Fabregas scored one penalty but Nasri and Wilshere ran the show as both also scored. Other scorers; Alex Song and Marouane 'The Dancing Feet' Chamakh. Arsenal's former player Eduardo scored the consolation for the away team. Yuri Zhirkov proved a case for Ancelotti this weekend by producing a 25-yard screamer for Chelsea and Anelka completed the routine win away to Spartak Moscow. Drogba didn't play in this fixture but for Gameweek 9, he and Alex are expected to start while Jack Wilshere will start serving his ban for his straight red card on the weekend. Wait for the weekend team news of course.
